The genetics of Northern Lights is one of the most confused of all existing cannabis seeds strains because there is no one who can take entire credit for its creation.
Northern Lights was developed as an indoor cannabis seed strain in the late 1970s near Seattle in Washington, although the genetics involved in the cross were known to have come from California the original home of a great many of the most famous cannabis seeds strains.
It was initially a stabilized cannabis sativa strain crossed with an Afghani indica hybrid. Northern Lights traveled to Holland as a clone where it was introduced to the commercial cannabis seed market in 1985 by The Seed Bank.
Because it arrived as a clone it could not be inbred for stability and cannabis seed production, therefore Skunk No 1 and Original Haze were used to produce seeds off it so it could be used as a parent plant.
Northern Lights distinctly shows its Afghani indica genetic background; it is a small plant that produces, big highly resinous flowers. Although it was initially developed for indoor growers excellent results have been produced outside.
Northern Lights has a sweet resinous taste and produces a physically comfortable but lazy feeling, known to some as ‘couch lock’.
I have grown this inside and this is the first season for me growing it outdoors. Inside it’s killer weed. Great high. Easy to grow. Outside it’s not as big as my other plants (SLH/Cookies) It smells really nice but not packing on the weight yet so hopefully it fattens up. It has had a little PM problem so far but nothing to be worried about (weather has been super humid and wet) southern ON Canada (Posted on 9/25/2019)
Going very well. All5 super tough , uniform easiest to clone plant I've ever seen. I got 5 pak and took clones off all of them. They rooted in 5days in aeroponic cloner, omg explosive roots !. Haven't flowerd it yet, i just flipped them all into flower 2dsys ago. I Will get Bak with flower report in 60-70days hopefully. Also got canuk Zkittlez glue also going awsonr!, rooted lil slower 7dsys but still crazy fast , I also just put them in flower so will get Bak with flower report on that too. Canuk has sum strong growing genetics!! (Posted on 9/9/2019)
Got this as a free seed from ordering, wasn't expecting huge results. I was blown away by how great the high is and the plant grew. Buds are small but dense, I yielded ~1g/w and ~550g/m2 (225g / 8.92oz).
Harvested at F53, she gained a lot in the extra 4 days and I growing again I would let her go another ~5+ days. Great high, strong, and long lasting, it's the star of my last 4 plant grow and it was up against very strong elite European strains.
Thanks for the freebee as I loved it and I'll be ordering some of these now! (Posted on 7/12/2019)
This plant grows and flowers quick. I loved being able to turn my grow over so fast. I have a mother from the 3 seeds I ordered. Took clones and I am turning over the grow in 12 weeks from clones to harvest. That is crazy fast for me. I would recommend this if you are looking to have a quick turn around. (Posted on 11/14/2018)
After some bad luck outdoors i had to take the show indoors and I couldn't have gotten a better strain. I went with a scrog setup in a 32x32 tent and easily filled it up with great smelling bud!! I'm sure I could've filled a bigger tent but I'm new to the indoor thing and I'm anxious to run this strain for a while and try different methods. The grow went problem free for this newby and the clones came easy. Thank you canuk for a top notch strain that can make anyone look like a pro. A buddy put some outside and they were the biggest plants I've ever seen. I highly recommend this one. (Posted on 9/12/2018)
Made sure to get more of this strain after the first seed I grew of it very dense frosty buds smelled amazing. I used botanicare sweet berry on it to really bring out the sweet smell got about 5 oz of one 5 foot plant in a 15 gallon. (Posted on 5/14/2018)
Got this as a freebie, i had to top this beast because it grew over the gate! Great yield, easy grow, and easily one of my favorite smokes. Nice mellow high takes your mind off a long day or minor aches. I am buying more! ;) (Posted on 4/5/2018)
Hardiest plant I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and my oh my the yield and the quality. There are no words to praise it enough.
The effects? It's Northern Lights. Speak it's name with quiet awe and a huge smile.
If indicas are your thing, this is arguably the grand empress of the indicas. Canuk seeds genetics stocks on this one are second to none. (Posted on 1/11/2018)
This is my 4th time with Northern lights and has yet to disappoint. This plant is indestructible and can take the most extreme conditions. I always enjoy the flavour you certainly know you are smoking something but its the flavour that keeps bringing me back and will defiantly grow again. (Posted on 12/22/2017)

This is my 3rd time growing this baby and each time weather the seeds were free or I paid for them it is always my best finisher with that drop dead front to back flavour and by far a fine wine mmm. The best thing is they are almost indestructible they respond really well to super cropping and always produce well. I recommend this strain for a difficult environment or novice. Mine finish in day 70 of flower under 600wt led's (Posted on 4/19/2017)
The biggest plant I've ever grown. I got 2 freebies from canuk. They both sprouted in April. I put them out in May. The stalk is as big as a Coke can. The plants grew around 14 foot. Over a pound of dried bud per plant. I highly recommend Canuk Northern Lights. The colas was as big as my arm. It's my new favorite. (Posted on 8/29/2016)
