Details

The genetics of Northern Lights is one of the most confused of all existing cannabis seeds strains because there is no one who can take entire credit for its creation.

Northern Lights was developed as an indoor cannabis seed strain in the late 1970s near Seattle in Washington, although the genetics involved in the cross were known to have come from California the original home of a great many of the most famous cannabis seeds strains.

It was initially a stabilized cannabis sativa strain crossed with an Afghani indica hybrid. Northern Lights traveled to Holland as a clone where it was introduced to the commercial cannabis seed market in 1985 by The Seed Bank.

Because it arrived as a clone it could not be inbred for stability and cannabis seed production, therefore Skunk No 1 and Original Haze were used to produce seeds off it so it could be used as a parent plant.

Northern Lights distinctly shows its Afghani indica genetic background; it is a small plant that produces, big highly resinous flowers. Although it was initially developed for indoor growers excellent results have been produced outside.

Northern Lights has a sweet resinous taste and produces a physically comfortable but lazy feeling, known to some as ‘couch lock’.

Quality
All sprouted, 7/3 females to males.
Couple different phenos popped up, one oddball tall sativa looking one, 5 pretty nice typical northern lights plants, really tasty.
This brings me to the last female, which blows the doors off anything else I've grown, or bought from any local dispensaries. Plant looked like it was dipped in maple syrup and had sugar dumped on top. First run in 1 sq metre tent under a Mars 2 1200 LED unit with 4 clones taken from that flowering plant produced 1/2lb, plus a half oz of nice bubble hash, after being overfed and underfed to the point of losing foliage early in life. Clones easily, looks after itself in Promix HP with 7g/gal of maxibloom, 1/2 tsp Armor Si, and my ph7.0 well water every watering until flush. Feed just to runoff point. Tough as nails, super tasty and potent, yields decent and finishes in 49 days like clockwork.
Overall, couldn't be happier. (Posted on 3/8/2017)
