Northern Lights Auto Feminized Seeds (Canuk Seeds) - A Quick Overview

Now available in our Autoflowering variant, the genetics of Northern Lights is one of the most confused of all existing cannabis seeds strains because there is no one who can take entire credit for its creation.

Northern Lights was developed as an indoor cannabis seed strain in the late 1970s near Seattle in Washington, although the genetics involved in the cross were known to have come from California the original home of a great many of the most famous cannabis seeds strains.

It was initially a stabilised cannabis sativa strain crossed with an Afghani indica hybrid. Northern Lights travelled to Holland as a clone where it was introduced to the commercial cannabis seed market in 1985 by The Seed Bank. Because it arrived as a clone it could not be inbred for stability and cannabis seed production, therefore Skunk No 1 and Original Haze were used to produce seeds off it so it could be used as a parent plant.

Northern Lights distinctly shows its Afghani indica genetic background; it is a small plant that produces, big highly resinous flowers. Although it was initially developed for indoor growers excellent results have been produced outside.

Northern Lights has a sweet resinous taste and produces a physically comfortable but lazy feeling, known to some as ‘couch lock’.

Short and bushy - Review by Alex
Quality
It started like the runt of the 3 strains it had and stayed so short. Took 11 weeks seed to harvest. But seems to be well worth the wait. It has about 15 nice branches with decently frosty colas. I assume because the plant staying so short in the beginning it allowed all the other sites to grow evenly. I didn't top or do any lst in the beginning but I had to lst 6 branches 3 weeks before harvest so all the branches could get good light and she adapted perfectly to it. Glad I did late lst she will definetly have the heaviest harvest out of the 3 autos I had. I'll harvest tomorrow at maybe 4 -5 ounces dry. (Posted on 8/26/2023)

I have grown Northern lights many times but this is my first auto flower version and the plants were shorter than the photoperiod version. That being said the lateral branches were monster arms full of bud. The thing I like most about Northern lights is the flavour like a fine liquor a most enjoyable smoke. (Posted on 11/29/2018)

Just as you'd expect from NL genetics only in Autoflower. Short, squat and low odor. With nice tight righteous nugs. (Posted on 9/7/2018)
Great classic strain - Review by Jeff

Recently finished a third grow from these guys. The first one was from seed and the subsequent grows from clone. This strain took to cloning very well I might add. Although at the end of my third grow, my clones did produce hermie sacs, but it was at the very end of flower and did not affect the final outcome. To be fair, I probably stressed them out a bit, but it happened simultaneously in 2 separate environments. No complaints about the quality or yield. The nugs are tight and heavy like little golf balls, with a few being actual golf ball size. (Posted on 7/29/2018)

A nice version of NL. - Review by A-Man

Northern Lights is an old favorite and with a small space only to grow in figured an auto-flower was well suited to the task. Seemed to burst out of the seed like it finally got a free portapotty 6 hours into Octoberfest. The first adult leaves were the biggest I've ever seen on any cannabis plants ever, and for the next two weeks the massive fan leaves where flying out faster than I've ever seen. At the two week mark it paused it's growth for only 2 days then boomed into flowering with a vengeance.
Final product lives up to the name Northern Lights for sure, and the auto-flowering was perfect for my grow's conditions. (Posted on 8/29/2017)
